Physics demonstrations are at their best when they sweep you up in their magic. When they make you forget you’re witnessing something that had to be precisely planned and calculated before ever being set into motion.

This simple, yet mesmerizing demonstration known as the “pendulum wave effect,” achieves just that. It’s hardly anything new, but it’s awesome and it’s typically done on a bit of a smaller scale than this.
