A documentary by Alexander Ward
Alexander Ward here, I was a previous guest on Midwest Real. We talked all manner of things Ayahuasca, so I wanted to bring you a new Ayahuasca Documentary I recently finished; ‘The Shaman’s Last Apprentice.’
In 2012, I spent a lot of time in the Amazon Jungle working with the sacred medicine and gathering all kinds of documentation and footage on this very profound subject. This documentary was one part of that journey.
One particular week in the Amazon Jungle of Iquitos, I caught an 11 hour boat down river to stay with a shamanic family. There, I met a woman named Rebekah Shaman. She had studied with the family, taking part in an apprenticeship 17 years ago with the now deceased Don Juanito. She was the Shaman’s last apprentice.
In this short documentary, she tells her unique story. Where, in 1997, she followed a vision she’d received from a Shaman calling her to the Amazon. There, she found and studied intensively with the powerful Ayahuasquero Shaman and Ayahuasca to connect with Mother Earth.
What follows is a warning from the Shaman to the west that we urgently need to change our relationship with each other, and with our planet.
Only when we understand how vital each one of us is to the future unfolding of this planetary story can we find the courage to let go of the fear, evolve consciously, and step into our own power so we can be the change.
I hope you enjoy!
